POWER: France March Power Tracks 14% Weekly Decline

France March power is tracking a weekly net decline of above 14% amid forecasts for milder weather and losses in the energy complex. French spot power is expected to decline for another session amid lower demand.
- France Base Power MAR 25 down 3.5% at 78.92 EUR/MWh
- EUA DEC 25 down 0.3% at 77.79 EUR/t CO2e
- TTF Gas MAR 25 down 3.1% at 49.8 EUR/MWh
- Nuclear availability in France rose to 86% of capacity as of Friday morning, up from 84% on Thursday, RTE data showed, cited by Reuters.
- EdF’s 1.62GW Flamanville 3 reactor is currently in test runs at 185MW of capacity until 14 Feb 14:00 CET, before ramping up output to 240MW until 15 Feb 09:30AM CET and to 320MW until 167Feb 00:00CET.
- EdF’s 1.5GW Chooz reactor will be offline on 19-24 February in a planned maintenance.
- The latest two-week ECMWF weather forecast for Paris suggests mean temperatures have been revised higher to rise above normal from 19 February until 26 February, before easing back down.
- Mean temperatures in Paris are forecast to fall to 1C on Saturday, before rising to 2.3C on Sunday, compared with 1.6C on Friday – below the seasonal normal.
- Power demand in France is forecast to fall to 63.96GW on Saturday and to 61.98GW on Sunday, down from 66.27GW on Friday according to Bloomberg.
- Wind output in France is forecast to fall to 4.19GW during base load on Saturday, before falling further to 2.93GW during base load on Sunday, compared with 4.85GW on Friday according to SpotRenewables.
- Residual load in France is forecast to decline to 56.23GWh/h on Saturday and to 54.38GWh/h on Sunday, from 58.1GWh/h on Friday according to Reuters.
- France’s hydro balance has been revised down on the day to end at -3.44TWh on 28 February, compared with -3.42TWh a day earlier.
