France Was Europe’s Largest Power Net Exporter in 1H24

France was Europe’s largest new power exporter in 1H 2024, followed by Sweden, Montel data showed.

  • French net power exports in the first six months of this year stood at 40.8TWh, up by 31% year on year. RTE saw French net power exports at 42TWh during the same period.
  • France exported 11.7TWh of power to the UK, followed by Italy with 9.4TWh, Germany with 8.8TWh and Switzerland with 7.4TWh.
  • Sweden was the second largest power net exports in the first half of this year at 15.3TWh, followed by the Netherlands with 8.8TWh.
  • Italy was Europe’s largest net power importer totalling 25.4TWh, followed by the UK with 18.9TWh.
