Frances EdF Extends Strike Action, Curbs Nuclear Output by 9% Of Capacity

Workers at sites of France’s EdF extended industrial action until 14 March, forcing 5.6GW of nuclear generation capacity down as of Monday morning, remit data show.

  • Several reactors reduced output by a total of 5.6GW, or around 9% of the country’s nuclear capacity, until 3pm on Monday, when the schedule will get updated, remit data show.
  • Capacity has been reduced at the Gravelines 3, Gravelines 4, Gravelines 5, Flamanville 2, Civaux 1, Cruas 2, Dampierre 2, Tricastin 4, Tricastin 1, Cattenom 1, St Laurent 1 reactors.
  • France’s hydropower production has been reduced by 4.6GW as of Monday morning.
  • Industrial action was initially scheduled to end on Saturday and to resume on Tuesday 14 March.
  • Power demand is expected to peak at 55.9GW on Monday evening, RTE data show.
