Freeport LNG Eyes Mid-December Initial Start-Up

The Freeport LNG terminal is eyed to start initial production from mid-December, subject to meeting its regulatory requirements, the company said on Friday.

  • It is expected that around 2BCF per day of production will be achieved in Jan 2023. Full production utilizing both docks remains anticipated to commence in March 2023.
  • As of November 14th, the reconstruction was around 90% complete, with all reconstruction work anticipated to be completed by end Nov.
  • Proposed remedial work activities for a safe restart of initial operations have been submitted to the relevant regulatory agencies for review and approval.
  • The potential restart has seen numerous rumors swirling around in the last week which has pushed Freeport to release comments on them being ‘fake news’ though providing no further information until now.
  • The Freeport headlines are pushing US nat gas prices higher - back to around level for the day after trailing early in the trading session
