MNI BRIEF: China SME Index Up In October
MNI (BEIJING) - China’s development index for small and medium-sized enterprises reached 89.0 points in October, up 0.3 points from September and the highest level since May this year, the China Association of Small and Medium sized Enterprises said on Monday.
The authorities' implementation of incremental policies had raised entrepreneurs' confidence, said Ma Bin, executive vice president of the Association, highlighting the macroeconomic sentiment index, which rose 0.6 points in October.
Sub-indexes for construction, transportation, real estate, social service, accommodation and catering shifted from decline to rise, while the wholesale and retail industry moved from rise to fall, the Association said.
Beijing will intensify efforts to stimulate domestic demand should U.S. President-elect Trump impose higher tariffs after taking office, policy advisors recently told MNI. (See MNI: China Domestic Stimulus Needed To Counter Trump-Advisors)
