Freeport Receives Approval For Start Up

LNG

The Freeport LNG terminal has received regulatory approval to start commercial operations of the liquefaction and export facility, the company said.

  • The approval provides for the immediate full return to service of one liquefaction train, that has already restarted, and the incremental restart and full return to service of a second train. The restart and return to service the third liquefaction train will require subsequent regulatory approval once certain conditions are met.
  • The three-train production of around 2bcfd is expected over the next several weeks.
  • Operations will start using two of the terminal’s three storage tanks and one of its two LNG berths. The third tank and the second berth are expected to return in May.
  • First LNG production and ship loading from the terminal began on 11 Feb from storage tanks.
