Freeport To Increase Terminal Capacity by 10%

LNG

Freeport LNG will increase its LNG production capacity to 16.3mtpa, up from around 15mtpa currently, while ongoing maintenance is more extensive than previously expected, CEO Michael Smith said in an interview.

  • “We’re adding 10% of production capacity,” Smith said, noting that Train 4 will add another 25% once operational.
  • Freeport’s Train 3 – offline since January – will resume full production on 20-21 March, he added.
  • Following the repairs of Train 3, Freeport will shut down the other two remaining trains for inspection and similar work. Maintenance is expected to run through April with normal operations to resume in May.
  • Maintenance at Train 2 started around a week ago and Train 1 will go offline soon, he added.
  • "We will not be back up to three-train capacity until the beginning of May," Smith said.
