French Energy Unions To Strike 19 Jan Amid Pension Bill

France’s energy and other labour unions are calling a first day of strikes on 19 Jan after the government announced to raise the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64 by 2030, according to the CGT union.

  • Strike action is likely to affect France’s power generation on 19 Jan.
  • The 19 Jan strike would only be the first step of the labour union response, and further action will be decided in collaboration with student groups, Laurent Berger, the head of the CFDT union said.
