French Transport Ministers Eases Fuel Shortage Concerns

French Transport Minister Clement Beaune has tried to ease concerns around fuel shortages ahead of strikes at French refineries Thursday.

  • "As of today, there are stocks of petrol," Beaune told French media outlets.
  • The strikes are because of pension reform and will impact key sectors such as energy, public transport, air travel and schools.
  • Concerns around fuel supply do not surround this Thursday but further strike action in early February could lead to refinery shutdowns at the same time the Russian oil product import ban begins.
