US DATA PREVIEW: Friday's 8:30am ET US November nonfarm payroll employment was
expected to return to trend with a 200,000 gain, according to the MNI poll of
economists, after hurricane disruptions in Sept and Oct. Low misses in six of
the last eight November reports add some upside risks to forecasts, based on Mkt
News' analysis.
- The unemployment rate is expected to stay at 17-year low 4.1%, a possible
concern to Fed officials, with at least one analyst forecasting a drop to 4.0%.
- Average hourly earnings are expected to start a gradual rise with a 0.3% Nov
gain, with analysts hopeful this may signal wage "catching up" to tight labor
market.
- Private payrolls are forecast to rise by 194,000, according to MNI poll of
economists.
- The average workweek is expected to stay at 34.4 hours.
