Futures Softened Ahead Of The Weekend

JGBS

JGB futures shed 9 ticks in the final overnight session of last week, aided by the weakness witnessed in the U.S. Tsy space and comments from Taro Kono, leading candidate in the leadership race atop the ruling LDP Party, as he noted that his fiscal spending plans will be funded by JGBs, although he noted that the scale of such issuance is still undecided (and of course the level of uncertainty is raised by the fact that he is not the guaranteed victor in the race to become party leader).

  • The quarterly BSI survey and August PPI data headlines the local docket on Monday, with local COVID and political headlines also eyed, although they have failed to generate much in the way of notable market reaction in recent weeks.
