Futures Tight Overnight, Rinban & BoJ Speak Eyed

JGBS

JGB futures recovered from their overnight lows, ultimately finishing post-Tokyo trade -3, in what was a relatively contained session for the contract.

  • We haven’t had much in the way of meaningful domestic news flow to assess since the Tokyo close, outside of the Nikkei suggesting that the Japanese government is considering lowering the interest rates applied to JHFA mortgages for families with children.
  • BoJ Rinban operations covering 3- to 25-Year JGBs provides the focal point of today’s domestic docket, while outgoing BoJ Governor Kuroda & newly installed Deputy Governors Himino & Uchida will appear in front of parliament at different stages of the day.
