Gas demand in Spain in 2024 is expected to be in line with 2023 according to the CEO of Spanish LNG terminal operator Enagas.

  • Growing industrial gas demand in Spain will offset a reduction in residential and commercial gas consumption in 2024.
  • Enagas previously said that total natural gas consumption in Spain decreased 10.7% last year to 325.4TWh due to lower demand for power generation.
  • Total natural gas imports fell to 397.8TWh in 2023 from 442.9TWh in 2022, while LNG imports were 272TWh, down from 318TWh in 2022.
  • “Spanish regasification plants received natural gas from 17 different countries last year, and interest in contracting long-term LNG storage services remains high,” Enagas said.
