Gazprom Flows to Italy Halted Over Weekend

NATURAL GAS

Italy’s Eni said it did not receive gas flows from Gazprom Saturday and Sunday and it expected that may persist into Monday.

  • The gas supplies were halted through the Tarvision entry point. Gazprom said in a statement on Telegram the problem was the result of regulatory changes in Austria.
  • "At the beginning of each gas year, various technical changes in the market model come into force," the Russian energy ministry said. "Contractual changes are necessary for this. These contracts have not yet been signed by Gazprom. Transport nominations for today could therefore not be accepted. A solution is currently being worked on at the technical level at full speed."
  • Italy has already secured additional gas imports from Algeria and Norway to make up for a fall in supplies from Russia but more volumes are still required to cover the shortfall.
