Gazprom Objects to Pay Bulgarian Transit Tax

Gazprom is objecting to pay Bulgaria the transiting tax for Russian gas on grounds it is not liable under the current law, Finance Minister Assen Vassilev said, cited by Bloomberg.

  • Bulgaria is working on legal amendments which will allow its revenue agency and customs to revoke Gazprom’s bank guarantee over the transit of more than 1b lev should the company refuse to pay, Vassilev said.
  • Bulgaria has full intentions on collecting the tax, the minister added.
