UK DATA
UK DATA: GBP has not reacted to the 5.9% m/m jump in the UK Halifax House Price
index for February. This is consistent with the Halifax index being extremely
volatile on a monthly basis, with the February jump following the 3.0% m/m
decline seen in January. Other house price indices still show a weak picture.
The Nationwide House Price Index showed a 0.1% m/m decline in February, while
the Rightmove survey showed a modest 0.7% m/m rise in February. Even the Halifax
notes the demand for housing and the number of sales is falling, citing broad
weakness in the RICS survey over the past three months.
