German Gas Demand Plunged 19.8% WoW On Mild Weather

German gas consumption in calendar week seven declined by 19.8% on the week and stood 22.7% below the 2018-2021 average, as average temperatures stood well above seasonal norms, Bnetza data showed.

  • Temperature-adjusted consumption was 15.3% below the average.
  • German industrial gas demand fell to a daily average of 1,542GWh last week, down from 1,853GWh a week prior.
  • Demand from households and businesses declined to an average of 1,500GWh/day, compare with 1,938GWh in calendar week six.
  • German gas storage capacity stood at 71.35% on 21 Feb, compared with 72.16% a week earlier. Last weekend, German reserves saw two consecutive days of net storage injections, uncommon for this season.
