German Gas Demand Rose 16.3% YoY in November

NATURAL GAS

German natural gas consumption stood at an average of 2,976GWh/d in November, up by 16.3% year on year, driven by an increase in household and industrial demand, Bnetza data showed.

  • November gas demand still remained below the 2018-2021 average of 3,483GWh/d.
  • Demand from households and small businesses rose to 1,375GWh/d in November, up from 655GWh/d in October. Industrial demand rose by 270GWh/d on the month to 1,601GWh/d in November.
  • German weekly gas demand stood 8.6% above the average consumption during 2018-2021 last week, as temperatures stood 4.1°C below the norm, supporting demand.
  • German natural gas reserves stood at 93.37% of capacity as of 5 December.
