German Investor Confidence in Hungary Unbroken

  • The confidence of German investors in the Hungarian economy is unbroken, according to the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) and the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK), MTI report. In a review of Hungarian-German economic relations, the HIPA and the DUIHK concluded that bilateral economic cooperation had notable success stories "even in these times of crisis".
  • MTI report that Hungary and its partners have made a commitment to the construction of the world's longest submarine cable to deliver electricity from Azerbaijan via Georgia and Romania to Hungary, Prime Minister Orban said ahead of the signing ceremony of an agreement.
  • Hungary's GKI economic sentiment rose to -21.3 in December from -22.5 in November, according to the GKI Economic Research. GKI business confidence rose to -10.2 from -11.6 in November while consumer confidence rose to -53 from -53.4.
  • Looking ahead this week, the central bank rate decision will take focus tomorrow, where rates are expected to be held at 13.0% once again. Trade balance data is on the docket on Thursday.
