German Seaborne Diesel Imports hit 7-month High: Argus

Diesel and gasoil imports into Germany’s coastal ports rose to a seven-month high in December, according to Argus, as elevated Rhine water levels curtailed inland shipments from the ARA.

  • German coastal ports received 750k mt of diesel and gasoil in December, according to Vortexa, up from 589k mt in November.
  • Around 40% of the diesel and gasoil arrived from the US, with US diesel deliveries into Europe hitting a 65-month high in December.
  • Demand was also higher as buyers looked to fill inventories ahead of a CO2 fuel tax rise beginning in January, Argus said.
