German Weekly Gas Demand Fell Back Below Average

German natural gas consumption last week stood 23.2% below the 2018-2021 average, weighed on by milder weather, Bnetza data showed.

  • Temperatures in Germany last week stood 3.8°C above the average during 2018-2021.
  • German industrial gas use last week stood 20.9% below the average, compared with 6.2% above the average the week prior. Industrial gas demand stood at 1,718GWh/d last week.
  • Gas demand from households and small businesses fell 25.5% below the average last week to 1,659GWh/d. Demand stood 13% above the average in the week prior.
  • Germany’s natural gas inventories stood at 75.03% of capacity on 30 January, down from 77.06% a week earlier, GIE data showed.
