According to Der Speigel, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck is expected to extend the lifespan of Germany's last two nuclear power plants this winter to counter energy supply bottlenecks.
- Habeck: "We are already in a place where the stress test said: It may be necessary to use nuclear power plants for grid security," adding that the main risk is a "grid bottleneck."
- Habeck: "It's not the amount on electricity but the distribution of power in the grid."
- Germany had planned to phase out the use of nuclear power by the end of this year.
