Gilts bull flatten ahead of supply and post-Bailey's comments

GILTS
  • Gilts opened within ranges, but have since drifted lower, likely ahead of the auctions of the new 0.25% Jul-31 and 1.625% Oct-54s due today.
  • Curve is bull flatter, with the longer end of the curve outperforming somewhat.
  • 5/30s are slowly edging towards the low of the session.
  • Bailey confirmed today that the Bank of England are back to thinking the stock rather than flow of QE was more important but sounded as though he still thought the flow was watched by the market.
  • Bailey also said that he thought that yield curve control was not necessary in the UK.
  • Our technical analyst sees teh first resistance at 134.48 (which was not challenged earlier) with the first support at 133.57.
