Gilts Continue Higher Amid Mixed Brexit Progress Reports

A few media updates on the state of Brexit negotiations:

  • A little after midday GMT, CNN put out a piece containing the quote "I think something bigger is going on with the EU deal" by a "Downing Street insider", who suggested that a "concession from London might be on the cards".
  • Just after 1500GMT, BBC's Europe Editor Katya Adler on Twitter suggested less progress was being made, citing EU diplomats as sounding "pessimistic", with "no deal might be useful 'to clear the air'", though general E.U. consensus is that a deal is "possible" but "that decision lies in Downing Street".
  • Bottom line is that gilts have continued to head higher through the day, now on session highs. G 1 future last trading 134.46, testing resistance at 134.48 (Nov 10 high).
