JET FUEL

Global air passenger capacity saw another weekly fall in the week starting Nov. 6, down 3% on the week to 103.4m seats, according to OAG.

  • Total global capacity is now 3% below the same period in 2019.
  • The total capacity across 2023 is forecast to be 3.5% below full year 2019, but 17.4% above 2022.
  • North America saw a domestic capacity increase on the week, up by 1.9%, or 380k seats. However, this was offset by falls in Northeast Asia and Europe, with declines of 157k and 151k in domestic seats respectively.
  • Overall seat numbers continue to fall as Northern Hemisphere winter schedules begin, which are reflective of the lower seasonal demand.
