Global Air Passenger Capacity Rises 1.3% on the Week: OAG

Global air passenger capacity is set to rise 1.3% in the week commencing Dec. 11 to 104.7m seats, according to OAG.

  • Domestic airline capacity worldwide is up 0.3% on the week to 63.0m seats, while international capacity is up 2.8% on the week to 40.8m seats.
  • Driving the rising capacity on the week has been increased domestic seat capacity in Southeast Asia and North America.
  • All regions have seen a rise in international capacity on the week, with the most significant rise in Asia, up 163,000 seats.
  • Capacity is also expected to rise by 3% next week as Christmas related travel boost demand for air travel.
  • Projected capacity for the full year 2023 remains static at 5.5 billion seats, down 3.7% on 2019, but 17.2% up on 2022.
