Global Airline Capacity Down 1% on the Week: OAG

Global airline capacity has fallen by 1.1m seats, or 1% in the week commencing Oct. 16, according to OAG data.

  • Compared to the same period in 2019, airline capacity is 1.7% lower, with global airline capacity across 2023 expected to hit 5.6bn for the full year, 3.4% below 2019.
  • Domestic capacity across Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia has driven the fall, with a drop of 771k seats.
  • Europe is responsible for just under 50% of the total reductions in international seats during the week, with the total falling by 0.5m seats.
