Global Airline Capacity Rises 0.42% on the Week: OAG

Global airline passenger capacity is set to rise 1.01% on the week to 112.04m seats in the seven days commencing April 8, according to OAG.

  • Broken down by flights type, domestic capacity is up by 0.12% to 66.61m seats, while international capacity is up by a larger 0.88% to 45.43m seats.
  • The actual figures are a 0.77% downward revision from the forward schedule, which put total capacity at 112.91m seats this week.
  • This was driven by a higher 0.84m seat overestimate in domestic capacity.
  • Looking ahead at the forward schedule, total global airline capacity is set to rise 1.01% on the week to 113.17m seats for the week commencing April.15.
  • The rise will be supported by spring break and additional flights following the Easter break, with capacity on track to continue growing towards the peak northern hemisphere summer season.
