JET FUEL: Global Airline Passenger Capacity Falls 1.13% on Week: OAG

Global airline passenger capacity is set to decline by 1.25m seats in the seven days commencing from Feb. 24, OAG said.

  • This represents a fall of 1.13% on the previous week and up 2.9% on the year. This is the largest weekly fall since the week starting Jan. 6.         
  • This week's total seat capacity is 109.78m seats, comprising 65.34m seats of domestic capacity and 44.44m seats of international capacity.                                             
  • Domestic capacity is down 1.74% on the week and unchanged year on year. Domestic capacity has been converging on last year’s levels, having started the first week on January 3.6% higher than the same period in 2024.                
  • Meanwhile, international capacity is down 0.21% on the week and up 7.6% on the year.
  • International capacity is also seeing its surplus over 2024 in consistent decline, having started 2025 with capacity 9.4% higher year-on-year.
