Global Airline Passenger Capacity Rises on Wee: OAG

Global airline capacity in the seven days commencing April 1 rose to 111.56m seats, up 3.34% on the week.

  • International capacity was up by 5.43% on the week to 45.03m seats, while domestic capacity grew slower at 1.97% to 66.53m seats.
  • Looking at the forward schedule, capacity in the week commencing April 8 is expected to rise by a further 1.2% to 112.96m seats.
  • Looking back at March, global airline capacity across the month was 8% higher than March 2023, equivalent to 35.19 seats.
  • Air China operated its first round-trip flight from Beijing to New York on Sunday after China and the United States reached an agreement to increase the number of between each nation.
