Global Diesel Loadings Surge March

OIL PRODUCTS

Supported by rising Russian loadings, global diesel loadings show strong growth averaging almost 12.6mbd so far in March and significantly above the former multi-year peak of around 12mbd seen in December according to Vortexa.

  • The well supplied nature of the markets at present is displayed in a relatively muted response to diesel prices despite ongoing strikes in France. It is historically a significant diesel importer.
  • Global seaborne oil flows do not suggest a looming supply crunch at present – especially with elevated Russian flows on the market despite sanctions.
  • Instead of supply worries, the markets are currently being driven by demand concerns as recessionary fears take hold.
