Global Summer LNG Supply to See Little YoY Growth

Global LNG supply during summer is forecast to rise by 1.8% on the year to 204mn tons, as little supply will come online, assets are aging, while Russian output is likely to be curtailed amid sanctions according to BNEF.

  • Russia and the US will compete to take the top spot for supply growth this summer (see chart).
  • Russia is, however, is facing difficulties to start up the Arctic LNG 2 amid US sanctions.
  • New projects with a total capacity of 48.8mn tons are expected to come online this year, compared with 3.8mn tons last year.
