Global Weekly LNG Imports Recover

Global weekly LNG imports increased by 12% to 8.1mn tons during 12-18 February, driven by higher imports from Japan, South Korea and Northwest Europe according to BNEF.

  • Imports into JKCT rebounded by 0.58mn tons to 3.96mn tons last week, with shipments to Japan recovering by 0.51mn tons on the week to 1.71mn tons. South Korean LNG imports stood at 0.96mn tons last week, compared with 0.70mn tons the week before.
  • NW Europe and Italy’s imports last week stood at 1.56mn tons, up from 1.11mn tons the week earlier.
  • Weekly LNG exports fell by 7% to 7.9mn tons during 12-18 February, due to lower exports from Australia and Russia by 0.29mn tons and 0.21mn tons, respectively.
  • US LNG shipments increased by 0.11mn tons to 1.89mn tons last week with exports from the Freeport terminal falling by one.
