'Good Progress' Being Made On FTA With New Zealand

Wires reporting comments from UK officials stating that they are making 'good progress' following the latest round of talks with New Zealand officials regarding an FTA.

  • In late-January, The Sun reported that Department for International Trade officials were seeking to have a UK-NZ trade deal in place 'by Easter'.
  • The UK has 63 rollover trade deals in place following its exit from the EU's single market, with an additional two secured separately.
  • In 2020 the UK exported GBP623mn of goods to New Zealand (almost half of which comprised vehicles, gas turbines, medicines, and gin), while importing GBP794mn of goods (over 55% of which was lamb or wine).
