Government Sees 1% GDP Growth in 2023, 2% in 2024

  • According to current projections by the Russian government, economic growth in the country will total around 1% in 2023 and will accelerate to 2% in 2024, a source familiar with the matter told TASS. "The government’s projections suggest [growth] by around 1% this year and by 2% next year. Those are current projections, which have not been made official yet," the source said.
  • Russia affirmed its stance that without progress on resolving a number of “systemic issues” there can be no talk of an extension of the grain deal after May 18, a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry published on Thursday said.
  • Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Uzbekistan to take part in a ministerial meeting of countries including Iran, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting’s agenda will include discussion of the steps that the countries of the region need to take to facilitate the political settlement process in Afghanistan.
