Government Starts Appliance Purchase Program

ARGENTINA
  • The government’s plan for Argentines to buy appliances through 30 fixed instalments during a 90-day window will start today with 273 appliances available for purchase under the program. The program will cost the state nothing, Economy Minister Sergio Massa said at an event in Buenos Aires.
    • “Program will cost the state zero. It is an effort by retail chains, manufacturers and bank associations”.
  • President Alberto Fernandez reported that Housing Minister Jorge Ferraresi will leave his post on November 1, according to a message on Twitter. Ferraresi is the fourth minister to leave the Government this month.

    • President Fernandez meets with Josep Borrell, High Representative for Foreign Affairs for the European Union
  • Separately, the finance sub-secretary of Argentina’s Buenos Aires city, Abel Fernandez Semhan, will travel to New York to hold meetings with investors next Wednesday and Thursday, he said by text message on Monday. Investors are said to include real money funds and asset managers, among others.
    • Fernandez Semhan said he will update investors about the state of the city’s debt, discuss 2023 financial plans and talk about the liability management strategy with the intention of extending debt maturities.
