Guyana’s Oil and Gas Sector almost doubles in H1 2023

Guyana’s oil and gas sector grew by 98.4% during H1 2023, according to Guyana’s President Dr Mohammed Irfaan Ali.

  • Total crude production totalled 68.7m bbl in the first half of 2023, compared to 34.6m bbl the previous year.
  • The main contributor to output was the Liza Unity floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO), which produced an average of 270,000 barrels per day.
  • ExxonMobil expects Guyana to reach a stable 1m b/d of oil production by 2028, up from zero in under 10 years.
