Harris Continues To Close Gap To Trump On Economy And Immigration

US

A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll has found that Vice President Kamala Harris has continued to close the gap to former President Donald Trump on her two biggest political vulnerabilities: The economy and immigration.

  • On who voters trust more with the economy, Trump has a five-percentage-point lead, down from a 14-point lead before President Biden withdrew from the race.
  • On who voters trust more with immigration, Trump has a three-percentage-point lead, down from a 13-point lead before President Biden withdrew from the race.
  • USA Today notes that Trump retains a lead on dealing with China, but his 4-point lead is down from 10 points over Biden.
  • On health care and on race relations, "Harris had double-digit advantages of 14 points and 19 points. Both were wider than the 10-point advantages that Biden held."
  • Harris retains a lead in enthusiasm with 68% percent of Harris supporters saying they are "very excited" about voting for their candidate, compared to 60% among Trump supporters.
  • The survey also shows Democrats with a five-point lead on the generic Congressional ballot, suggesting that Harris continues to bolster the prospects of down-ballot Democrats.
