Head Of Zelenskyy's Office Comments On China Envoy Meeting

UKRAINE

Head of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Office Andriy Yermak tweets: "On behalf of President Zelenskyy I held a briefing on the current security situation in Ukraine for the Chinese government delegation led by Li Hui, the special representative for Eurasian affairs. With Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, told them in detail about the ten-point Zelenskyy peace formula. We would strongly appreciate China joining international efforts to implement it. I thanked China for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

  • Earlier on 18 May, the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued astatement saying that "There is no panacea to resolve the crisis. All parties need to start from themselves, build up mutual trust, and create conditions for peace talks to stop the war."
  • Li will now travel on to Poland, France and Germany before finishing his trip in Russia as China seeks to promote its peace plan for the conflict. While Ukraine's western allies have given short shrift to Beijing's plans, China is viewed as one of the few nations that could potentially be viewed as a neutral arbiter by both sides in any eventual ceasefire talks.
