Headline Inflation Remained At CNB's Target In March

CZECHIA
  • Czechia's CPI inflation stayed at the CNB's point-target of +2.0% Y/Y in March (sequential reading +0.1% M/M), printing in line with consensus. The CNB's now slightly outdated Winter Forecast suggested that inflation should have came in at +2.9% Y/Y in March, but more-benign-than-expected readings at the start of the year implied a lower starting point. The data released today leaves room for the Bank Board to keep lowering interest rates, even as policymakers signalled their concern with several upside risks. The central bank will comment on the latest inflation figures at 12:00BST/13:00CEST, while also providing a breakdown of the data, including information on the core component.
  • The Czech Finance Ministry will publish its quarterly economic forecasts at 10:00BST/11:00CEST.
  • Czechia holds an auction for bonds maturing in 2028, 2032 and 2040.
