Homeland Party's Ince Unlikely to Withdraw From Presidential Elections

Following a meeting between Homeland Party Chair Muharrem Ince and the joint candidate of the Nation Alliance Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Turkish media report that it is unlikely Ince will give up his presidential bid, despite receiving fierce criticism from his former party members as well as other opposition figures for disrupting the unity of the opposition against Erdogan.
  • “This Erdogan should go. This Erdogan is tired, arrogant, does not believe in the science of law. He should not run the country for five more minutes. We express our opinions in a very open way,” Ince said.
  • Despite these remarks, when asked by a journalist if he would withdraw from the presidential race, Ince said “No”.
