Hungary Looking to Unlock EU Funds in the Summer

Bloomberg now reporting that Hungary is targeting summer for the release of crucial European Union funding as talks on rolling back Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s influence over the bloc’s money drag on, according to EU Funds Minister Tibor Navracsics.
  • “We just mutually expressed interest that by the summer we can reach a good solution,” Navracsics told reporters on Wednesday after meetings in Brussels with members of the European Commission.
  • Navracsics said he discussed proposals on reducing political control over so-called public trusts Orban has set up to oversee universities.
