HUNGARY: Trade Surplus Widens to EUR1.2bn in September

  • Hungary's preliminary trade surplus widened to EUR1.233bn in September from +EUR443m in August, according to the Central Statistical Office. That is a touch below expectations of a larger EUR1.30bn surplus. Imports rose 7.8% m/m while exports rose 14.8% m/m.
  • There are no other major data releases scheduled for today, with industrial production figures for September and minutes from the latest NBH rate-setting meeting both due tomorrow. Retail sales data will cross Thursday morning.
  • Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban holds meetings in Kyrgyzstan today with the aim of boosting bilateral ties.
