IAEA Chief: Window To Restore 'Continuity Of Knowledge' 3-4 Weeks

Speaking at a presser, International Atomic Energy Agency Chief Rafael Grossi states that:

  • Iran plans to disconnect 27 IAEA cameras today. Adds that '40-something' cameras will continue to operate in Iran.
  • Iran is removing other monitoring equipment installed under 2015 deal
  • The window of opportunity for restoring continuity of knowledge on Iran nuclear activities is very, very small, three to four weeks.
  • Grossi 'The picture with Iran is not a very nice one but my obligation is to persevere"

Given the resolution passed by IAEA Board of Governors last night censuring Iran, there remains a distinct prospect that Iran massively reduces its cooperation with the IAEA. Without progress on talks the chances of any improvement in relations with the West and an unlocking of sanctions and Iranian hydrocarbons remains almost-nil.
