IAEA Head: Missile Hit Near Nuclear Plant, Reactor Not Affected

UKRAINE

Speaking in Vienna, International Atomic Energy Agency DG Rafael Grossi states that a Russian projectile landed within the grounds of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant near the southern town of Enerhodar, but none of the reactors were hit or damaged.

  • Grossi says the safety of the reactors has not been affected and no radioactive materials have been released. Says radiation monitoring at site is continuing as usual.

  • Grossi says 'Reactors and plant safety systems are working normally. There was a fire at a training building which was quickly extinguished by fire services located at the plant.'
