ICE Gasoil Open Interest Continues to Rise

Aggregate open interest in ICE Gasoil has continued to rise this week and is the highest since Nov 2021 while WTI interest has also risen this week.

  • ICE Gasoil futures open interest has surged up to 0.801m yesterday. Daily aggregate traded volumes on ICE Gasoil have been well above normal this week and up as high as 521k yesterday compared to an average of 331k in the first half of Jan.
  • The increase in ICE Brent aggregate open interest seen in early Jan has paused around 2.19m yesterday but still near the highest since the end of October. WTI open interest however has continue to rise up to the highest since November at 1.681m yesterday.
  • The Brent aggregate daily traded futures volume has averaged near normal at just over 1.0m this week however WTI volumes have been below normal at an average of 0.67m in the week.
  • Nymex RBOB gasoline futures open interest has also steadied after increasing so far in Jan up to the highest since September at 0.368m yesterday. Daily futures volumes have been similar to last week at an average of 178k this week.
