IDR Awaits FinMin Indrawati's Budget Presser

Spot USD/IDR changes hands -36 pips at IDR14,635, weighed on by a combination of mild optimism seen after aforementioned headlines re: Sino-U.S. trade matters. Bears look for a breach of channel floor at IDR14,534 before targeting Jul 29 & 30 lows of IDR14,455. Meanwhile, a recoil above Aug 18 high/100-DMA at IDR14,875/76 would allow bulls to take aim at channel top at IDR14,973.

  • Indonesian FinMin Indrawati and other officials will hold a press briefing at the top of the hour. They will speak about budget realization through the end of July.
  • After hours Monday, President Joko Widodo asked his Cabinet to prevent investment growth from falling more than 5% in Q3, noting that the government is confident that the country will meet its investment target of IDR213tn.
  • Little of note left on Indonesia's economic docket through the rest of this week.
