IFX: Ryabkov-'US Not Prepared To Meet Russian Security Guarantees'

Russia's state-run Interfax reporting comments from Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stating that the US and its NATO allies are not prepared to meet Russia's demands on security guarantees.

• Also states that the US and NATO are only ready to talk on subjects of security that is convenient to them.
• Ryabkov's comments come as Russia and the West engage in the third set of talks regarding heightened tensions on the Russia-Ukraine border this week. This time in Vienna in the form of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’ (OSCE)s Permanent Council.
• Following mildly positive mood music following the US-Russia bilateral at the start of the week, the rhetoric has since turned more negative. There appears little prospect of notable progress being made, with the current 'heightened tensions' potentiall becoming more of a normal state of affairs, with talks being dragged out over the coming weeks and months.
