India Fuel Consumption Rose In May

Consumption of fuel in India, a proxy for oil demand, rose to 20.03mn tons in May, up from 18.26mn tons a year earlier according to the Indian Oil Ministry’s Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell.

  • Consumption was also up from 18.54mn tons in April.
  • Demand was boosted as India’s factory output expanded at the quickest pace since October 2020 in May according to Reuters.
