India January Gas Demand Up 24% YoY

NATURAL GAS

Indian natural gas consumption rose 24% year on year in January, with gains seen from all sectors, according to ICIS and PPAC data.

  • The growth was driven by most sectors (see chart). Natural gas demand for fertiliser production rose slightly lower but still recorded a new record with LNG accounting for a share of 88% in fertiliser production.
  • The largest growth was seen in steel and other industrial sectors.
